I’ve been busy making lots of lovely button Christmas cards for my up and coming craft fairs – Christmas in the Loft [Adross Farm, Elie] and Magpie Market [Edinburgh]. I love my new printer! I bought it a while ago and not really used it yet. I bought a load of pre-cut/scored blank cards made from recycled card and have been pondering for a while what to do with them. But I got my thinking cap on last night and got productive.

My next victim is Katcha Bilek who runs Re-Collect and designs and makes the most amazing fashion accessories from recycled materials – namely truck inner tubes collected from local tyre repair centres. The straps on them are old car seatbelts from local car scrap yards. The belts are made of bike tyres from local bike shops. Everything is hand made locally, cut and sewn by hand with no use of electrical machinery or children. The materials make a great alternative to animal products and due to the nature of the material each product is unique.

I’ve just found out that Milomade has been selected as a stall holder for the Magpie Market to be held in Edinburgh on the 6th December. Yippee! What brilliant news! I devoted some time today to finishing off my initial leaf pendant that I started last week and make an additional two. I could have made another three as I have three more spoon heads from this set, but decided to leave those until next week and concentrate on other things.

This morning, in between my day job jobs, I’ve been working on a little autumnal leaf pendant. I’ve been ignoring the spoon heads that were discarded when making my spoon rings for far too long and decided to have a think of what to do with them the other day. I knew I wanted to cut something out of them, whether this was a letter initial, or intricate pattern os something simple, but nothing really stuck in my mind too long.

I’ve been working away on a new range of button pendants. When I say range, so far I’ve made a prototype and one actual pendant, but there will be more on the way soon. I wanted to adapt the processes I’ve learnt to make my small silver button earrings and adapt them to my ideas for pendants.
