I decided to make rings today – follow a few tutorials in a book that I borrowed from the library and get comfortable with working with different thicknesses of wire and have a good old play and see what I come up with. It was tons of fun and I want to make more, but I’m running out of fingers.
In total I made 5 rings but these are the three I’m most pleased with:
3 Loop Ring
This ring is made from thick silver ‘D’ shaped wire which has been looped round three times and then the ends joined. Nice and chunky to wear and looks different from every angle.
5 Loop Ring
This ring has been made with 1mm round silver wire which has been looped round 5 times and then the ends joined. Nice and light and the diagonal swoosh across the finger looks great when worn. I tried hammering the swoosh flat so that it stood out more, but it didn’t turn out the way I intended so when I next make one like this I will keep it all as round wire.
Twisted Swirl Ring
This ring has been made from thick round silver wire. Formed into a ring and then hammered to create 5 flat sides. The remaining area was hammered flat and then twisted to form the raised swirl. I was following a tutorial in a book for this ring, but after making it, I think I would prefer not to hammer the 5 facets onto the ring form and instead keep it all round. I don’t think the angles go with the swirl. So I didn’t finish this ring off and it’s still a little rough around the edge. I also think I’ve ruined it slightly as after I took the photo’s I decided to tighten the swirl to make the ring size smaller – forgot to anneal it fist and a tiny crack formed into the swirl. I might be able to fix this though, but think I’d prefer to make another one.
Nice work, keep going, i find the more i experiment the more inspired i am to try even more things/variations, be inspired

Lovely :-)) Think my favourite is the first one.
