I spent a really lovely weekend in Derby visiting my wee bro Nickerless at his pub Bar One. The last time I was down was when the pub opened and this weekend they were holding a party as the pub was going to be 2! I can’t beleive two years have passed since I was last down! I wish it didn’t take so long to get there by train or car or else I’d be down a lot more often.

I went to the park with the dog the other day and it was really windy – I got hit on the head by several conkers and so decided to collect a load. They were just falling to the ground and bursting out of their shells – so lovely to watch!

I’m listing this item on my blog so folk on the Fife based freecycle network can see what’s on offer. This is a piece of furniture we inherited with the house when we bought it. I’ve been using it for the past year as a table for my sewing machine, but have just re-organised my studio and decided that I don’t have room for it anymore. I’m going to miss the drawers as I filled them to the brim with fabric, wool, thred and all my sewing paraphenalia – not sure where that’s going to go now.

Yesterday I set off towards Edinburgh very early in the morning as I had an appointment at the Royal Infirmary at 9am. I was ushered into a small cubicle and asked to change into a hospital gown and then led into the x-ray department and into a small room. There was a large monitor with Milo/Evie displayed in the centre of the screen. I was introduced to the nurses and then the x-ray lady came through and explained the procedure in full detail.

On Saturday the 12th we went through to Edinburgh to meet up with the Balloon crew from the Edinburgh University Hot Air Ballooning Club and got the opportunity to follow them to a field in Carnwath to watch three hot air balloons take off. This was all in preparation for a couple of balloon flights we were to do the following day for Colin’s new piece of work for the Cupar Arts Festival. I got the opportunity to try out my newly acquired skills of recording sound.

Colin has been clearing out his office space and brought me home a box of delights today! I was really chuffed when he dumped this box full of abandoned student sketchbooks at my feet and said they were all for me.

I was contacted recently by Charity Nichols who runs Green Tulip, an ethical gift shop in Wiltshire. Green Tulip was launched in 2007 with the aim to “offer customers products that are stylish and contemporary, and that have also been produced without exploiting people, animals or the environment.” She’s selected a small range of my products and I’ve got to get them made and delivered in September.

Following on from my ring making frenzy, I decided to make a bangle for a friend of mine. I realised that if I formed the swirl on the ring in the opposite direction, it would look like an ‘S’ and that just happens to be my friends initial…

I decided to make rings today – follow a few tutorials in a book that I borrowed from the library and get comfortable with working with different thicknesses of wire and have a good old play and see what I come up with. It was tons of fun and I want to make more, but I’m running out of fingers.
