I blogged or tweeted recently about working on some new sea glass rings – progress has been a little slow on these as I’ve not been able to get into my studio due to other commitments of late, so here are some images of the initial stages for my next four rings.
I love balling silver wire and I think the pieces of wire with balled ends look like little silver bones. All the pieces need a good old sand and polish. I then need to make some ring and solder all the bits together before introducing the sea glass and shaping each ring individually.
If you like any of the pieces of glass pictured and would like one of these rings, then please get in touch with your ring size and I will make the ring to your specifications with the piece of sea glass you’ve chosen.
Thank you so much for this I will have to try one for my self. I have just started a silversmith class so this way is by far the easiest way I have seen.
Glad my post has been inspiring, but rather than pinching my design, use it as inpiration to create your own stlye and design.
Love these! I’m teaching an Adult Metalsmithing class. This session I have the most creative students. I ran across your work on Pinterest as I was looking for a solution to a design using a less than perfect shaped stone for bezel setting. How do you secure these beach glass stones so they don’t jiggle around in the setting? The best part of teaching is all that I learn from my students. Thanks for being an inspiration to me and my class. By the way-I would be interested in purchasing some of your beautiful beach glass.
