Dummy Jam on sale soon…

Recently I blogged about making Jam for my friend Matt, for him to sell and raise money for a film he’s making. We’ve named it Dummy Jam as it takes after the man who inspired it – a deaf Scotsman name James Duthie, fondly known as Dummy Jim, who cycled to the Arctic Circle in 1951. It will be on sale at long last this weekend at the Doune the Rabbit Hole Festival and I’ve just designed the labels and printed them out.

Really chuffed with them and I couldn’t resist sticking them on the jars to see the finished product. What do you think?

The illustration is by Nick Currey and is an adapted version of the Dummy Jim logo used on the website.

There are 5 flavours of jam so far:

  1. Raspberry
  2. Runny Raspberry [not enough pectin sugar available at the time]
  3. Elderflower and Gooseberry
  4. Gooseberry
  5. Rhubarb

And this is a close up of one of the jars of gooseberry – isn’t it lovely!

Matt will be taking my jars of Dummy Jam to the Doune the Rabbit Hole Festival at the weekend. So if you’re heading that way make sure you have some extra pennies in your pocket as this jam sure is tasty! I can certainly recommend the Raspberry – not much of a jam fan myself, I was converted the other day when I tried the raspberry jam on my morning bowl of porridge and it was so tasty I had it again this morning. Matt might have to wrestle me for the jars of raspberry – or I could go and pick some more fruit and make another batch this weekend.

And I just found this fab animation to advertise the event:
