This is a fab tutorial I’ve been wanting to try out for ages. I’ve got a huge box of magnets that came with the badgemaker I bought a few years ago, but they are the wrong size for the badge component and so not suitable for making badge like magnets. But instead of throwing them away, I’ve squirreled them away for a rainy day or should I say snowy…
I found the tutorial on the Big Box Detox website and it reminded me of my magnet stash. I’m going to start putting aside special buttons so that I can make myself a batch of fridge magnets in January when we’ve finished installing our new kitchen – they’ll look great on the new SMEG fridge I’m hoping to win – I’ve entered about three different competitions and it would be amazing to win – however very unlikely!
What you will need:
- Hot Glue Gun or Super Glue
- Pretty Vintage Buttons
- Time – something I don’t have at the moment unfortunately
All you need to do is simply glue the magnets to the buttons or the buttons to the magnets – whichever way you fancy it. In the images above they’ve used quite thick magnets which I don’t think is a good idea and they even state they would use thinner magnets next time. I’m lucky that the magnets I’ve been hoarding are quite thin, so they’ll be perfect.
These would make a perfect gift for friends and family – I might be able to make some just before Christmas and pack them up into little bags like I do my badges.
