This week I’ve been busy making new work for the Four+ exhibition that is on this weekend. Due to all the snow we’ve had I was very doubtful if I was going to be able to drive to East Wemyss on Friday, but was hopeful that it’d be fine and so continued to create and just kept an eye on the weather forecast.

I love making sea glass jewellery to order.
It’s lovely when someone can come to my studio and have a look through all the pieces of sea glass I have and find one or two pieces they absolutely love.

I absolutely love these chairs made from suitcase by the very talented Katie Thompson. She has a flair for transforming the ordinary to the extraordinary. Hop on over to her site www.recreate.za.net to see what else she makes.

I got these on eBay the other day. Two are the same pattern with a lovely engraved letter ‘G’ on them. The other has a twisted stem and the end looks like it’s been broken off, but I thought it was interesting enough to purchase. I bought it for the challenge.

Well a few weeks back I did a Theme Thursday post and wished for a white Christmas and all I can say is that something you do get what you wish for. We had a little bit of snow on Friday and Saturday, but by Sunday it was all gone. We’d arranged to go through to Edinburgh to visit friends on Sunday evening and we thought we’d be fine as there was no snow here. We knew there’d be snow in Edinburgh, but so long as we heading back home before midnight we shouldn’t get stuck in it.

Re-routing pipes! We’ve been living with our 70’s kitchen for far too long now and it’s time to tackle it. We’ve put it off for so long due to lack of funds and also it’s such a huge task that just thinking about it makes our brains melt. But we’ve been deliberating about it for far too long and we’ve decided to take action now. Most people think we’re mad to start this three weeks before Christmas, but what with the VAT increases in Janaury we’re going to save ourselves a lot of money ordering everything now.

Looking for a belfast sink! We’re going to be turning the back porch into a little bit of a utility room and that’s where the washing machine and freezer are going to go. Between them we want to put a small belfast sink, so I went on a hunt for one recently. We have one salvage yard close-ish to us just past Kincarden Brdige – it’s called Hargreaves and it’s abrialliant place for belfast sinks.

This is a fab tutorial I’ve been wanting to try out for ages. I’ve got a huge box of magnets that came with the badgemaker I bought a few years ago, but they are the wrong size for the badge component and so not suitable for making badge like magnets. But instead of throwing them away, I’ve squirreled them away for a rainy day or should I say snowy…

This is a really elegant solution to a common old problem. How to store your bike when space is limited.
We always intended to rig up some sort of pulley system so that bikes could be suspended from our high ceilings, but never got round to implementing anything. Then we invested in some of those long arm hooks that look sleek and simple, but we’ve never got round to putting them up either.

I’ve been having lots of fun making button hair clips this week in preparation for the next run of craft fairs and exhibitions I’m doing up until mid December. I’ve gone through my button box and picked out buttons with fab colours, shapes and patterns and carefully sewn these with waxed golden thread [to match the clips] to small hair clips. The stitches are glued at the back to secure them. I then pair them up and slip them onto printed Milomade cards.

A while ago I bought lots of antique silver spoon sets when we visited Colin’s sister Morag and her family over the summer as they live near Spoon Central – a little village called Horncastle that is full to the brim with small antique shops. As I’ve been without my camera for what seems like months, I’ve not been able to photograph any of my ‘work in progress’ for a while. I have been busy, just not really been able to blog about it.

I found this on Flickr and thought it was amazing – would love to see it in real life to get a better sense of the scale of the work. I tracked down the artists website here, so go and check out what else he does, but I think this is my favourite.
