Nothing goes to waste in the Milomade studio – especially when it comes to silver – so a waste product from one item can easily be transformed into something beautiful too. I’ve been making lots of love heart pendants from my collection of antique silver spoons and so have lots of little cut out hearts. I’ve had them in a little zip lock bag for ages and decided the other day to transform them into little stud earrings.

I love snow, but as we live on the coast we hardly ever get a thick covering that settles and stays and so we indulge in our love of snow by visiting family down south every other year or so and it’s so much fun – lots of snowball fights with the kids and giant snowmen. The dog love it too.

Ok so it’s not very good weather, so I’m not talking about that. Instead I’m talking about the lovely day out I’ve had today. A while ago I signed up for a creative exchange organised by Fife Contemporary Art and Craft and due to being immensely busy, in hospital, out of hospital, dealing with a backlog of work and what not, there has just never been the time to do anything. So I put today in the diary as the day to go out and do it – or at least part of it.

Autumn is definitely here now isn’t it. Aren’t the colours amazing? I love walking the dog at this time of the year as the sun is always low in the sky at that time in the afternoon and this enriches the colours with that lovely autumnal glow. So I thought this week I’d do an autumnal them with lots of leafy designs and autumnal colours. Enjoy!

I just got my regular newsletter from Instructables and saw this fabulous video tutorial on how to make a beautiful box from a simple drinks can.
I really want to try this out – would be great for gifts or even as ring boxes for my antique silver rings!!

Nina Lindgren is the artist behind the tower cardboard art installation known as Cardboard Heaven.
Cardboard Heaven is a large sculpture made up of small individual cardboard houses that together stand an impressive 177 inches (almost 15 feet) tall. All the individual elements of Cardboard Heaven stack one on top of the other to form a large self supporting cardboard community – but there don’t seem to be any doors – only windows. These are lit up to give the impression that Cardboard Heaven is occupied, but by whom?

This week I thought it appropriate to think big bangs, fireworks and explosions of colour. I hope this selection doesn’t disappoint.

I’ve just added some of my festive decorations to my online shop. I’ve been busy making lots of origami paper wreaths for my up and coming craft fairs in November and December as they were a big seller at the Charity Chic event a while ago. Hopefully they will be again.

Today I said goodbye to my camera – I had to pack it up and send it off for repair – something I should have done months ago, but something I’ve been delaying for as long as possible as I hate to be without it. There is dust on the sensor and there is no way for me to clean the sensor myself and so I’ve had to send it back to Camerabox.
Book Hoo – not sure when I’ll get it back!
