And the winner is…

February 7th, 2011

Entries to my Valentine’s Day Competition ended at midnight last night and this winner has been chosen. A big thanks to everyone who took the time to enter. I didn’t get very many entries – not sure why this is, but it sure did make the judging process easier for me as I only had a few images to compare rather than hundreds.

All the entries are very different and everyone took a different approach with their images. I got 6 entries in total and here they all are with a bit of explanation underneath each one:

Mary’s Heart

I saw the competition and thought I hadn’t time to find anything . Then I turned round from the pc to see this little heart. Serendipity! My daughter Mary had made it and left it on the carpet. So I took the photo exactly as I found it.

Summer Love

It’s summer where we live and the Monarchs are a common visitor in the garden. The heart-shape is a bit of a stretch – but if you squint and turn it upside down . . .

My niece drew me a picture so I made her one from her left overs! Just to show her how much I love her!

This is a picture from 2009 that I’ve searched for to put in as an entry to the Milomade Valentine’s DayCompetition.

French Kissed Toast

In the spirit of this upcoming Valentine’s Day, I made my honey some heart-shaped french toasts tonight for dinner :)

I love each image for different reasons and I like the stories behind them, but there is one image that really stands out for me and so the winner is…

‘Old Snow and New Romance’ by Jeni

It’s odd but ever since I launched the competition I’ve been seeing hearts everywhere – whether in the pebbles on the beach or in the dusty footprints left in the carpet by the builders, even little scraps of food in the sink have formed into heart shapes – I’ve been too busy to photograph them all, but each one made me smile as it’s a little detail that I’ve noticed and it’s like I’m picking up on little messages from someone/somewhere left especially for me.

So I chose this image by Jeni as the winner as it’s one of those little details that could so easily have gone unnoticed. It’s a really lovely image of a heart naturally formed out of snow captured in a moment before it melted.

So a lovely pair of love heart earrings will be on their way to you Jeni ASAP.

Thanks to everyone for entering!
