Recycling plastic milk bottles

Plastic Symbol - HDPE

I had to buy extra milk this week and last as I’ve been drinking a lot of tea and so I’ve ended up with a few HDPE white plastic milk bottles. I was going to do a tutorial for you all and recycle them into something super, but I’ve not had much time or space. So instead I’d love to share this video with you…

It’s from Atomic Shrimp and I found it on YouTube (but you should check out his website too as its full of amazing stuff) and its a tutorial on how to take plastic milk bottles and tops and other HDPE plastic and form sheets of really thick durable material that can be used for so many things.

It’s quite a long video, but persevere as the end result is amazing. I really want to give this a go, but not sure Colin would let me use his sandwich toaster for melting plastic!

I’ve got lots of ideas running through my head now of what I would make with the stuff, mostly jewellery related – maybe one day I’ll give it a go.

Wow, just been to the atomic shrimp page, that man is amazing and genius! Thank you for linking to it. If you do decide to start melting the plastic, I’d be very interested to see what you make!
