This ring is one of many in my A.S.Classic ring collection. It is made from an antique silver spoon that a slender thin stem with a chevron design at the terminal end.
I chose the name Ceara for this ring as the chevron detail at the terminal end of the stem is reminiscent of the point of a spear or several spears. Ceara is the gaelic word for spear. The ring is small and slender with a classically simple bold design which looks lovely with or without an antique patina applied.
The teaspoon was originally made in 1932 by a silversmith trading under the name of James Dixon & Sons, based in Sheffield. Who knows what journeys it’s been on and the people it’s encountered, not to mention the amount of tea it has stirred or the gossip it’s heard in it’s lifetime before being discovered by me at the back of a cabinet in an antique shop.
A sturdy solid ring, available in small sizes, limited edition of 6.
This design is available in sizes I to 0
The rings are not closed so can be adjusted.
This ring, as with all my antique silverware rings, comes with a small provenance tag to identify the silversmith who originally made the spoon, the year it was made and the location of the assay office that hallmarked it.
Making jewellery from antique silverware is something I really enjoy. I love stripping away the years of tarnish and neglect and breathing new life into these forgotten things and making them into something precious that can be given as a gift or keepsake. Maybe the date is relevant to you or the detail in the design, but there’s always something special about an item with so much history – working with it as well as wearing the finished piece.
