Orlaith is one of many rings in my A.S.Ornate ring collection and new to my shop today. An intricately embellished ring with reeded borders and floral accents running around the edges of the stem meeting at the terminal end in a flourish of swirls and petal detail.
Originally a tespoon made in 1912 by silversmiths trading under the name of Mappin & Webb, based in Sheffiled. Who knows what journeys it’s been on and the people it’s encountered, not to mention the amount of tea it has stirred or the gossip it’s heard in it’s lifetime before being discovered by me at the back of a cabinet in an antique shop.
Available in large UK sizes S to Z
Limited edition of 4
The original hallmark and makers mark have been left intact and are clearly visible on the inside of the ring. This ring, as with all my antique silverware rings, comes with a small provenance tag to identify the silversmith who originally made the spoon, the year it was made and the location of the assay office that hallmarked it.
Stunning with an antique patina applied, this ring is also available in a plain silver finish.
Making jewellery from antique silverware is something I really enjoy. I love stripping away the years of tarnish and neglect and breathing new life into these forgotten things and making them into something precious that can be given as a gift or keepsake. Maybe the date is relevant to you or the detail in the design, but there’s always something special about an item with so much history – working with it as well as wearing the finished piece.
