I have another new stockist to announce this week. Museums Sheffield visited me at my British Craft Trade Fair stand in April and were very taken by my antique silverware jewellery, particularly my collection of rings and most importantly those with a Sheffield hallmark.
They were very impressed with my packaging also. Each ring I now sell comes in a small box which is embelished with a map that corresponds to the city/town in which the original teaspoon was assayed. I worked really hard in the lead up to BCTF on getting all these finer details polished off and making connections between my jewellery and other ranges with the use of maps and I feel my hard work has paid off.
They placed an order soon after BCTF was over and my work is now stocked in the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield.
Sheffield is known throughout the world for it’s association with cutlery and a majority of the antique silverware I work with to produce my jewellery was originally produced and assayed in Sheffield. So as you can imagine, I’m over the moon to have the opportunity to showcase and sell my work from such a prestigious venue, with it’s historical association with the silverware I love to repurpose and recycle.
Museums Sheffield’s Metalwork Collection is one of the finest in the world and contains cutlery, flatware and tableware that have made Sheffield famous. The collection was closed in October 2014 for major refurbishment. You can read about this here. They successfully bid for funding to revitalise the gallery’s exisiting displays:
“Funded by a major grant from the DCMS Wolfson Foundation and support from charitable trusts and local businesses, the redevelopment project will see the introduction of new mobile wall structures, LED lighting, freestanding cabinets and flexible cases, which will allow curators to share much more of the collection on a regular basis. The new-look displays will open on Wednesday 3 June 2015.”
It’s the 3rd of June and the metalworks collection re-opens today – so why not pay them a visit and then email me and tell me all about it! I really want to take a trip down to Sheffield sometime to see the collection and maybe time my visit to catch some of the great talks and tours the museum offers.
I’m so excited to have my antique silverware jewellery in the Millennium Gallery shop!
As well as my rings, they also ordered lots of my Eco Notepads embelished with Sheffield maps.
If you do visit, please get in touch and tell me all about it!!!
