I’m always keen to promote handmade crafts and gifts and personally would much prefer to make someone a gift or buy them something hand crafted than buy something mass produced. When you buy handmade you know that the maker has taken the time to make each piece unique, individual in it’s own way and certainly not something you would find in highstreet shops.

It’s important to promote and support handmade for this very reason. It’s often difficult to get noticed and that’s why whenver I’m involved in a group craft fair or event, or when I see someone’s work that I love, I make an effort to write a blog post and shout about it from the rooftops so that people find out about these wonderfully talented folk and the work they produce. I love it when people feature my own work on their blog and so I like to do [...]

They asked me to answer a few questions and my answers appeared on their blog in July – I’ve only just got round to noticing! Ooops.

Just a quick little post to let you know that I got interviewed for the ‘Meet the Maker’ slot on the Makers-Online blog recently and it got posted on the site this week. You can follow this link to read all about “me me me”! I don’t know how to edit, so it’s quite a lengthy read but very informative and I tired to take a different slant on thing so as to make it different from my other recent interview in the UK Handmade Magazine Summer Issue.

Here are some really lovely pictures Colin took of me in my studio working away on some jewellery:

Everything is hand made locally, cut and sewn by hand with no use of electrical machinery or children. My business is called Junky Chicken. I used to work under the name Jenny’s Textiles but didn’t like the fact that it limited me to working in textiles.
