Save Your Christmas Cards

Just before Christmas I packed up all my stock and craft fair display items and put most of the boxes up in the loft to get them out of the way. I moved the rest of the stuff out of my studio too, as we’re going to be laying the new floor soon as well as finishing off the walls so that I can move back in properly and get organised and get my work life back to normal. Well my fans have been steadily growing and I can’t believe I’m nearing 500 fans on Facebook already. I have been busy exploring Facebook and connecting with lots of creative folk, so this has helped and been an enjoyable though time consuming process. But if it helps to raise the Milomade profile it’s all worth it.

I see Facebook as one big networking event and it’s like being in a big room full of creatives and handing my business card out to people. By leaving links on other people’s discussion pages and fan pages, it is like giving your business card out and doing a little 60 second pitch on who I am and what I do. Rio Magazine

I got a copy of the new Rio Magazine posted to me the other day by Susan at FCA&C. She’s kindly used an image of one of my brooches to advice their online shop. I was chuffed to bits when I saw it – it was such a surprise to see something I’d made in print. I’d never heard of the magazine and I’m really glad I’ve been introduced to it.

It’s full of tons of information on what’s happening with regards to design, craft, style and events for the next few months in Scotland and has made me aware of a few things that I would’ve missed – like the degree shows on at the moment, especially the jewellery ones. I’m off up to see the Dundee show on Saturday now and can’t wait.

This morning I found out that I’ve amassed over 100 fans this weekend on Facebook! I think that’s quite amazing. Thank you to everyone for popping by and becoming a fan and spreading lots of Milomade love on Facebook and on Twitter for me – I really appreciate it. I recently wrote a post where I said that my 100th fan on Facebook would receive an exclusive 30% discount off any item in my shop. I’ve slept on this idea and decided this morning that this wasn’t fair on all the other people who have become fans. So I’ve decided to change the promotion so that everyone has a chance of winning. So what I’m going to do now is take the first 100 fans and put them into a randomiser and pick the winner at random instead.

Become my 100th fan and get money off!

I’ve decided to fully embrace facebook this week and give it another go. The last time I attempted joining I didn’t set up a personal profile and just a fan page for Milomade. This made it impossible for me to connect with other facebook users and become a fan of other pages. So after realising my mistake I did a bit of research online and found out the best route to take and signed up for facebook again, but this time with a personal profile and then set up a fan page for Milomade.

It’s all gone pretty smoothly so far and I’ve managed to design and build a custom welcome page and connect facebook with my blog feed. I’m sure that there are a million more things I could do, but I’m taking it all one step at a time.
