I drove through Aberdour for the first time in ages the other day. The road has been closed for months due to repair work – I think there was a landslide when we had that bad stormy weather in March. It was so lovely to see the fields of poppies along the way and I had to stop and take some photo’s.

I guess I’m still grieving for the loss of the 10th doctor, but maybe that’s so because the new Doctor has not lived up to expectations. I’m not sure why the new cast were chosen, but it surely can’t be for their acting abilities. I have just watched Episode 8 and it was appalling. I can’t help but wonder how David Tennant would’ve played the part with either Billie Piper or Catherine Tate as his sidekick.

I believe I’m quite a tolerant person, but sometimes I’m pushed beyond the boundaries of tolerance and I get really annoyed. This morning was a classic example. It was really hot yesterday, so lots of people flocked the beach to enjoy the sunshine – I have nothing against that – but this morning I walked the dog on the beach and picked up two bag fulls of rubbish left behind by these people. There are bins [approx 6] situated all the way along the edge of the beach and yet the whole place was strewn with litter. Mostly drinks cans, plastic bottles, crisp packets, icecream wrappers etc. I just don’t understand why these people think that it’s OK to leave their rubbish behind for the likes of me to wade through in the morning.

Colin sent me this funny snippet yesterday. He’s not sure where he got it from so I can’t quote the source, but it made me chuckle. It’s the kind of stuff I would hope he would get up to in order to make each shopping trip more fun, but he chooses, quite wisely, to stay at home and leave the shopping to me…

I love the music that One Eskimo produce, but I also love the animations that accompany their songs. I fell in love with the animation for their song Hometime and with the music too, but recently I’ve heard their song Kandi on Last.fm and it’s been getting a lot of plays within my library and I’ve just discovered this beautifully sad animation that goes with it. Watch an listen and I’m sure you’ll love it.

Through watching Wallander I’ve discovered the dulcet tones of Emily Barker. This is the original song that was used for the Wallander theme, written by Emily Barker and performed with her band The Red Clay Halo. ‘Nostalgia’ emanates from the acclaimed album Despite The Snow and was adapted for Wallander by Emily and composer Martin Phipps. ‘Twelve thousand miles away from your smile’ is one of my favourite lines – it’s the passion she sings it with. Have a listen – you’ll love it…

I heard this song on the radio the other day when I was sanding down the walls in Colin’s studio and getting them ready for plastering and painting – a tiring and boring job – I felt totally demoralised thinking of all the work we need to do on the house and wishing I had the money to pay someone else to do it all. I know all the hard work is going to be worth it – I just wish it wasn’t so hard and didn’t take so long. Having to fit all the DIY around life and work means there are just not enough hours in the week to get all the tasks done and things get put off and delayed or simply ignored until they really just have to get done.
