So if anyone fancies buying it for me for Christmas – please do!

After seeing loads of fabulous old lockets and keepsakes at Blair Castle a while ago I really want to learn how to make lockets.

The lockets I saw at Blair Castle were for loved ones and contained locks of hair and other small momentos and they really touched me at the time, as I’d just had my operation to remove my ectopic pregnancy and I wished I could make something as beautiful as the lockets I saw on display to contain a few memories of my own.

I looked through the books that I had but none of them contained the information I needed. Then I found this book on Amazon and added it to my wishlist. I totally forgot about it until today.

It’s packed full of detailed demonstrations and introduces a [...]

Milomade is now closed for the holidays!

I’m taking time off from Milomade for the next few weeks and will be back in the new year as of the 4th January. I will still be blogging over the festivities so watch this space!

The online shop is still open, orders can be placed, but please bear in mind that these will not be dealt with or sent out until January. Please get in touch if you have any queries.

I would like to thank everyone who has bought Milomade this year. I’ve had a brilliant year and met some fantastic people and made some great connections too. Here’s hoping that 2011 will be even better! This is an image I took this morning of our house on top of a very icy/snowy cliff…

And here’s one I’ve just taken of the sea mists sweeping in…

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

There was a very strange yellow glow about today – I think because of the snow – and in the afternoon this beautiful rainbow appeared – the colours got so intense, but I only managed to take a couple of photo’s of it before my camera battery packed in so didn’t capture the intensity that appeared next.

I did try an pursuade Colin to go down to the beach and dive in ad get the pot of gold as we could really do with the extra cash at the moment what with all the renovations going on, but he wasn’t keen and we just watched it gradually fade away instead.

There is dust on the sensor and there is no way for me to clean the sensor myself and so I’ve had to send it back to Camerabox.

Book Hoo – not sure when I’ll get it back!

Having looked back through my images it looks like the dust has always been there ever since I bought the camera, it’s just not something I’ve noticed as most of my photography is done in Macro mode with a short depth of field and so it just hasn’t appeared on many of my photographs.

I love autumn. It’s the colours, the frosty mornings, the starry clear skies, the need to wrap up in a warm blankie on the sofa – oh so many things. One thing I do love about autumn though is walking the dog in the woods.

Humbie is just so full of colour at the moment. All the bracken has turned a bright orange and although it’s muddy in parts the ground is covered in leaves and walking through them makes the most amazing sound.

I’m sure the dog loves it too. I know she loves pounding through the bracken after a stick and comes back with a big grin and happy, excited look on her face.

I would say it’s my favourite season, but I say that about every season when in the moment.

I love spring, I love summer and I love winter, but I always love the season we’re iin the most.

I took him on a magical mystery tour day out! It was a lovely autumnal wintry morning and this set the tone for the most perfect day!

We packed a few essentials – water, flask of coffee, biscuits etc as well as the dog into the car and set off at around 11ish. Colin had no idea where I was taking him. I didn’t either really as I’d never visited the place before so it was an adventure for the two of us. It took about an hour to drive there and even when we got quite close, Colin still had no idea where I was taking him. So I was chuffed to bits that I’d managed to find somewhere he’d not [...]

I remember when I was little and we got milk delivered to our door every morning in glass bottles. Sometimes I’d wake up early and hear the milk van in the street with all the bottle rattling in the back. I used to love opening the back door to find two bottles of milk waiting on the doorstep and if it was winter the milk often froze, pushing the silver bottle tops up. Supermarkets came along and milk deliveries seemed to get wiped out…

Until now…

We discovered a local delivery man who will deliver milk and eggs to our door every day. No more plastic milk bottles to deal with – our milk now comes in glass bottles that can be returned and re-used!

Today we got our first delivery of milk!

How exciting!

Doesn’t it look sweet…

I’m not shoe crazy at all in fact I think I have less than ten pairs of shoes or boots in total – this is probably quite strange for a lady but on a day to day basis I normally wear either my hiking boots or my wellies and it’s only on the odd trip out that my feet get a treat and I wear something else. Well now my feet are very happy…

…as am I – whenever I put these new shoes on, I get a bounce in my step and a smile on my face – I love them! Yes they might be plain and boring and just a pair of pumps, but to me they’re very special!
