New Sea Glass Earrings

December 4th, 2010

This week I’ve been busy making new work for the Four+ exhibition that is on this weekend. Due to all the snow we’ve had I was very doubtful if I was going to be able to drive to East Wemyss on Friday, but was hopeful that it’d be fine and so continued to create and just kept an eye on the weather forecast.

Sea Glass Commission

December 4th, 2010

I love making sea glass jewellery to order.

It’s lovely when someone can come to my studio and have a look through all the pieces of sea glass I have and find one or two pieces they absolutely love.

Get your locks in order!

November 25th, 2010

I’ve been having lots of fun making button hair clips this week in preparation for the next run of craft fairs and exhibitions I’m doing up until mid December. I’ve gone through my button box and picked out buttons with fab colours, shapes and patterns and carefully sewn these with waxed golden thread [to match the clips] to small hair clips. The stitches are glued at the back to secure them. I then pair them up and slip them onto printed Milomade cards.

New Ring Designs

November 24th, 2010

A while ago I bought lots of antique silver spoon sets when we visited Colin’s sister Morag and her family over the summer as they live near Spoon Central – a little village called Horncastle that is full to the brim with small antique shops. As I’ve been without my camera for what seems like months, I’ve not been able to photograph any of my ‘work in progress’ for a while. I have been busy, just not really been able to blog about it.

New Love Heart Earrings

November 18th, 2010

Nothing goes to waste in the Milomade studio – especially when it comes to silver – so a waste product from one item can easily be transformed into something beautiful too. I’ve been making lots of love heart pendants from my collection of antique silver spoons and so have lots of little cut out hearts. I’ve had them in a little zip lock bag for ages and decided the other day to transform them into little stud earrings.

Lovely Button Chokers

September 30th, 2010

I got round to photographing my lovely new button chokers today. I still haven’t finished them off and decided how I’m going to do that yet, but thank you all for your suggestions and advice. I think I’m going to make them all a standard length and attach a extension chain to each of them so people can adjust the length to suit them.

Little Button Daisies – How Cute!

September 30th, 2010

I’ve been lots of button brooches for my up and coming craft fairs and just got round to taking photo’s of the first batch. I used to make flowers of all different sizes and colours, but I’ve decided to stick to the simple daisy design this time around as I love making them so much.

New Pendant Designs

September 19th, 2010

I’ve been making leaf pendants from my spoon bowls for a while and these are OK to make from spoons where the hallmark is found on the stem of the spoon, meaning the bowl of the spoon is unmarked. I do however have a huge batch of spoons where the hallmark appears on the bowl of the spoon and so I’ve been doodling and coming up with patterns and designs that would work on these hallmarked bowls so that I can make some new pendants.
