The Magpie market is soon approaching…only a week to go!

I’ve just found out that Milomade has been selected as a stall holder for the Magpie Market to be held in Edinburgh on the 6th December. Yippee! What brilliant news! So come along to the The Lot – a converted church in the heart of the Grassmarket on the 6th of December and do some Christmas shopping or simply treat yourself.

I’ve just posted a list of the craft fairs and events I’m going to be doing in November on my homepage, so make a note of the dates in your diary and come along, say hello and do some Christmas shopping! Here is a handy list with a little bit more information on each event.

This is just a quick post to let you all know that I’ve closed my Folksy shop and listed all my items within my Coriandr shop instead. I liked Foksy but…

Colin has been clearing out his office space and brought me home a box of delights today! I was really chuffed when he dumped this box full of abandoned student sketchbooks at my feet and said they were all for me.

I was contacted recently by Charity Nichols who runs Green Tulip, an ethical gift shop in Wiltshire. Green Tulip was launched in 2007 with the aim to “offer customers products that are stylish and contemporary, and that have also been produced without exploiting people, animals or the environment.” She’s selected a small range of my products and I’ve got to get them made and delivered in September.

My other half is an artist and he recently submitted some proposals for work to the up and coming Cupar Arts Festival. One of his proposals was selected as the recipient of a Visual Arts Award established by the organisers of the arts festival, Cupar Arts & Heritage Project (CAHP).

I’ve got them all! I’m not only going to list items within my own website shop, but also keep on with my Folksy shop as well a my new Coriandr shop – so there are now three places to buy Milomade products online. Each shop will have unique items – so no duplicates and no worry of double selling.

Through a bit of trial and error I have managed to install the ‘shopp plugin‘ into my blog and have set up a basic shop on this website. So now you can buy products directly from Milomade. Hopefully the process will be easier and quicker than shopping via Folksy.
I’m still in the process of cleaning up the layout of a few templates here and there and also waiting for a few bugs to be fixed by the developers, but it’s pretty much up and running and open to all.

I’ve got a couple of craft fairs coming up – one this weekend in Dunfermline and another the following weekend in Edinburgh. I recently bought some new stands from IKEA and have been dying to try them out and decide how my stall is going to look. So yesterday I just couldn’t concentrate on work and so decided to do a test run and set my stall up to see how it will look with the new stands. I’m delighted!

I’ve just been informed that my Dark Brown Leather iPod Case has been featured on the UK Handmade website in a post about suggestions for Father’s Day gifts. I wonder whether this will drive any traffic to my Folksy shop and whether I’ll make some sales.
I don’t personally do ‘Mothers Day’ or ‘Fathers Day’ or ‘Valentines Day’ for that matter, as I think they’re all over commercialised concepts forcing us to ‘buy buy buy’ and show our love, affection and appreciation through consumerism – I prefer to bake someone a cake, or some cookies or in fact – make them a case for their iPod!
