Rolled Paper Flower Tutorial

April 12th, 2011

Last week I was asked to supply a couple of tutorials for Making Magazine (so look out for Milomade in July’s issue) and was supplied with some beautiful paper samples from Inspire Me Papers to make and photograph my origami bookmarks tutorial and my little pocket notebooks tutorial. I had a few squares cut out and left over from making my bookmarks, so I thought I would make something else out of these this morning.

DIY Pantone Chip Magnets

April 5th, 2011

Now here’s another fabulous tutorial from How About Orange! I’ve just bought some funky new mugs in bright colours for our new kitchen and seeing this tutorial reminded me of them. I really want to make a load of these for the fridge once we’re back in – been without a kitchen for nearly three months now!!!

I want to learn to crochet!

March 15th, 2011

This week’s Tutorial Tuesday is a fabulously simple (if you know how to crochet) tutorial on how to make your own slippers. I saw this image and was green with envy! They are so cute and I want to make myself some now!

Wrapping it all up…

December 14th, 2010

I love wrapping presents, but I don’t like buying fancy wrapping paper. I love wrapping my presents with pages from magazines and stuff like that. But one thing that I do have a particular fetish for is plain brown wrapping paper – but no-one [apart from me] wants to get a Christmas pressie wrapped in brown wrapping paper, so why not add a little bit of recycled bling by making some of these paper bows.

Handmade Christmas Tree

December 7th, 2010

We never have a real Christmas tree as we just don’t understand the concept of cutting tree down in it’s prime and bringing it into our home to watch it slowly die over the span of a couple of weeks. So instead we go on an annual festive twig hung and come home with something already dead and swirly with lots of branches to hang decorations from. Then on new years eve we chop it up into firewood and light the last fire of the year with it – it’s our own little annual tradition.

Button Fridge Magnets

November 30th, 2010

This is a fab tutorial I’ve been wanting to try out for ages. I’ve got a huge box of magnets that came with the badgemaker I bought a few years ago, but they are the wrong size for the badge component and so not suitable for making badge like magnets. But instead of throwing them away, I’ve squirreled them away for a rainy day or should I say snowy…

November 9th, 2010

I just got my regular newsletter from Instructables and saw this fabulous video tutorial on how to make a beautiful box from a simple drinks can.

I really want to try this out – would be great for gifts or even as ring boxes for my antique silver rings!!

Paper Decorations made from Envelopes

October 5th, 2010

I found this tutorial online a while ago on the Domesticali Blog and have kept it on the back burner for ages. I thought I would give it a go this week as I thought it would be nice to sell some Festive Decorations at my up and coming craft fairs and these would compliment my Paper Garlands very well.

100+ Ways to reuse an old sweater…

September 28th, 2010

Having shrunk a few jumpers in the wash by accident I’ve been on the look out online for ideas of what I can make from my shrunken outfit that are now resembling felt, kind of. I came across this fabulous post on the Always Chrysti blog and thought I would share it with you as there are 100’s of ideas here.

Floor Cushions

September 21st, 2010

A while ago [a long while ago] I bought a load of old/vintage fabrics from charity shops with the idea of making large floor cushion / bean bags. You can see the prototype I made here. I never got round to making them – work and diy etc got in the way. So when I saw this tutorial on Design*Sponge I got totally inspired to get the sewing machine out again.

Recycled Origami Bookmarks

September 7th, 2010

This tutorial was featured in the Summer issue of the UK Handmade magazine and I was reminded of it when I needed a bookmark for the book I’m reading at the moment and had to make one – I forgot that I hadn’t posted it on my blog yet, so here it is for you to enjoy.

Some Facebook Tips

July 20th, 2010

Well it’s about time I got round to writing a tutorial about Facebook as I’ve promised so many people that I would. I joined Facebook in April and have written a few posts about it since, mostly offering promotions for my fans etc, but never really disclosed that much information about how to set up a page for your business and how to manage it.
