The boys (Colin and Dan) got me out of the house recently after my operation and we went fishing for mackerel. Colin took me a away for a weekend up north as his mum and dad were over from Ireland on a mini Scottish break and we thought we’d join them. I was still hobbling about and taking the lift rather than the stairs and also staying in the car instead of going for long hikes with the dog, but it was lovely to get away and not have to worry about cooking and stuff like that.

This is something I might have to try – making polymer clay buttons – there are some vintage buttons that are unique and sometimes I find it hard to part with some of the jewellery I make as I know I’ll never come across another button like that again. With this idea, I could make a mould and create a duplicate to keep in my collection for reference and to remember.

Some of you may know that not only do I run Milomade, but I’m also a freelance web designer and run Eskymo New Media Design. I did a favour for a friend recently, taking lots of lovely photographs of her work for a new website I hope to design and build for her quite soon. In return she did a short print run of business cards for me and I was expecting to pick this up from here the next time I went over to Edinburgh, but…

Yay – just got a lovely surprise in the post today – the latest copy of Pulse, hot off the press. It’s a free monthly magazine that comes with the Scotsman Newspaper and this month there is a feature on Scottish Jewellers and I’m one of the lucky ones to be selected.
