The Handmade Gift Guide

March 19th, 2010

I’m stretching my Milomade wings and exploring ways to get my products noticed more online and in the process I discovered The Handmade Gift Guide – it’s the sister site to Shop Handmade UK which has been around for a while and is a directory with over 1300 UK makers listed on it – Milomade being one of them. I needed to change my details on this site and that’s what brought me to The Handmade Gift Guide.

The reason I’ve opted for Zibbet

March 8th, 2010

Just a quick post to sing the praises of www.zibbet.com. I’ve only been a registered user for a few months and have only just got round to adding products to my shop, but I love the site. I have a Premium Account and with this can customise my shop, list as many items as I like, don’t have to pay any listing fees or have any commission taken off my sales. I can even create coupons and discount codes – something I will be taking advantage of soon. All this and there’s more in the pipeline too.

Wow Thank You! Launched!

March 5th, 2010

The Wow Thank You! website went live today. It’s a new e-commerce site promoting the talents of artisan from all over the UK. At launch there are around 1000 products for sale, alot of which are unique on-off items – that’s quite impressive!

“WowThankYou encourages the general public to look beyond the shopping centres and buy unique, home-grown, gifts instead. Promoting the work of 230 small, often home-based, businesses WowThankYou is providing an online outlet for selected artisans who usually sell only through regional craft fairs.”

The Shop is Now Open

February 25th, 2010

At last I’ve managed to grab a bit of spare time and figure out how to incorporate my Zibbet shop with my website. So you will now be able to view all the items for sale on this page of my website. I’ve only got a few earrings listed at the moment, but in March I’ll be adding the whole range of products I create.

Milomade has a new shop!

July 4th, 2009

Through a bit of trial and error I have managed to install the ‘shopp plugin‘ into my blog and have set up a basic shop on this website. So now you can buy products directly from Milomade. Hopefully the process will be easier and quicker than shopping via Folksy.

I’m still in the process of cleaning up the layout of a few templates here and there and also waiting for a few bugs to be fixed by the developers, but it’s pretty much up and running and open to all.

Getting Ready for Craft Fairs

June 18th, 2009

I’ve got a couple of craft fairs coming up – one this weekend in Dunfermline and another the following weekend in Edinburgh. I recently bought some new stands from IKEA and have been dying to try them out and decide how my stall is going to look. So yesterday I just couldn’t concentrate on work and so decided to do a test run and set my stall up to see how it will look with the new stands. I’m delighted!

My new Moo cards arrived today

June 12th, 2009

Moo were offering me a substantial discount on my next order so I decided to put in the time and get my logo in the right format for print. This meant ditching the original button I used which was a photo and opting for a vector image instead so that it was scaleable to any size without distortion or loss of quality. I’d downloaded some simple button graphics from Vector Stock a while back for another project and there was one which I though would be easy to adapt.

Creative Fife Annual Celebration

May 21st, 2009

On the 21st May, Creative Fife held a celebration event to toast it’s own success over the past two years – it’s going to be an annual event from now on. It was a great evening with networking opportunities and talks. The evening was held at the Rothes Halls in Gelnrtothes. I was asked to showcase some of my products and I was delighted to do so and even though I had a limited space, thought my little display provided a bit punch and vibrabcy to the evening, but then again I am a little biased in my opinion.

Trolley for sale

May 18th, 2009

I bought this trolley when I did my first craft fair this year in order to transport all my stuff about. It’s been really handy to have and I’m glad I got it.

It’s brilliant, but I now find it about a cm too small for the boxes/crates that I’ve started using so I upgraded and bought a bigger one from Lidl recently which suits my needs better.
