Bring back the Bees

Recently we spent a whole weekend clearing the patch of ground on the other side of the garden wall. This patch has always been covered in nettles, goosegrass and ivy which would creep over the wall and invade the garden. It also wasn’t nice to walk down the path at the bottom of the garden and have to avoid being stung by nettles whenever we wanted to appreciate the view and look down to the beach.

The Gradual Garden Makeover

Colin’s been working really hard in the garden digging up and bagging up all the layers of red gravel. We’ve given about 20 bags of the stuff away on freecycle already and there’s plenty more – there must be at least two tonnes of the stuff. We’ve kept some to patch up the path down the side of the house, but also used a load of it to fill the huge hole that Colin dug out which will act as the foundation of our new greenhouse.

Bloomin’ marvelous

I feel like we’ve totally neglected the garden over the past few months. We moved to Kinghorn earlier this year and had an initial flurry of activity in the garden, in fact on our first day here I created a herb / salad / spinach / beetroot patch right outside the back door, which has now been slightly overtaken by lovely nasturtiums…
