Milomade has a new shop!

July 4th, 2009

Through a bit of trial and error I have managed to install the ‘shopp plugin‘ into my blog and have set up a basic shop on this website. So now you can buy products directly from Milomade. Hopefully the process will be easier and quicker than shopping via Folksy.

I’m still in the process of cleaning up the layout of a few templates here and there and also waiting for a few bugs to be fixed by the developers, but it’s pretty much up and running and open to all.

This blog is improving my skills

June 13th, 2009

I’m getting to love WordPress more and more and the more I tweak the redesign of this blog, the more I learn about it. One design decision I made with the redesign was to not include the entire post on the index page, but instead have summaries and a link to read the rest of the entry. I much prefer this kind of layout for a blog as it’s easier to see the content you want to read more about, rather than having to scroll through acres of images and text you’re not interested in.

Milomade starts Flickr-ing again

June 12th, 2009

I’ve decided that I should get back into using Flickr after helping my friend Pete out with his blog. He was having a few security issues and I suggested we rebuilt his blog from scratch  and create a new database and use my favourite theme from Elliot Jay Stocks – namely Starkers. So we spent a lovely afternoon coding away and got it sorted eventually. As Pete’s a photographer he then went ahead and installed a Flickr gallery that integrated his Flickr account with his wordpress blog.

Milomade is feeling refreshed!

June 7th, 2009

I’ve been busy this week – every little ounce of spare time has been taken up with re-designing my website and blog. What do you think of the new look?  I was feeling a little claustrophobic with the previous look so I made the site wider and it feels a lot more spacious and roomy now. I got really into it last night and ended up staying up until three in the morning as I wanted to get all the main site pages finished. I’ve still got some text to write and the galleries within the product pages to sort out.

Burn baby burn…

December 8th, 2008

I do not claim to understand RSS feeds at all, but I registered milomade with FeedBurner today and am now offering an RSS button in the sidebar on the right so that you can easily subscribe to this blog and keep up to date with all my blethering if you so desire…

Categories and Tags

November 30th, 2008

I’ve only just started using Tags on each blog post and so I’m now in the process of reducing the amount of Categories so as to simplify the list and including a Tag Cloud so that you can search using tags too.

Web monkey for the evening…

November 7th, 2008

I’ve just spent the entire evening finishing off the milomade website at long last. So there is now an updated Products section as well as randomised links on the homepage. The content has all been updated too.

I’m really pleased as it’s now a proper showcase for all the products I make.

milomade.co.uk is now live!

April 7th, 2008

I’ve just put the milomade website live at last and I think it’s looking great. It’s got some good reviews already at the WDF despite it being a bit of a rush job to get something online in readiness for some up and coming publicity – nothing like a deadline to get work done!

I’ve kept the styling of this blog and the website the same and it is my intention to combine the two once I figure out how to manipulate the navigation in the blog to reflect the navigation of the site.

Logo Dilemma

April 5th, 2008

So I’ve at last decided on a name – that took a while – but milomade it is. Just need to decide on a logo now and having a bit of a dilemma…

WRONG FONTS…
