Make a beautiful box from a can!

November 9th, 2010

I just got my regular newsletter from Instructables and saw this fabulous video tutorial on how to make a beautiful box from a simple drinks can.

I really want to try this out – would be great for gifts or even as ring boxes for my antique silver rings!!

Buy Handmade!

October 29th, 2010

I’m always keen to promote handmade crafts and gifts and personally would much prefer to make someone a gift or buy them something hand crafted than buy something mass produced. When you buy handmade you know that the maker has taken the time to make each piece unique, individual in it’s own way and certainly not something you would find in highstreet shops.

Rain Rain Go Away…

July 1st, 2010

Thanks to Jill Calder for coming up with the rain theme for this week’s Theme Thursday – it’s quite appropriate as Fife is a tad wet today! We could all do with looking at her brightly coloured illustrations to get some colour back into the day. Is summer over? The rain is here and it’s quite grim all of a sudden and even though I found the sunshine far too hot, I miss it already. I do love the rain though, don’t get me wrong, but it’s put a gloomy haze over the day today, so I went onto the Zibbet site to find some silver linings to our rain cloud situation to cheer us all up.

How About Orange?

May 20th, 2010

Last week was pretty much a non-event when it came to blogging – I just couldn’t get my head into the zone and so I didn’t do a Theme Thursday last week, or much else for that matter. So I thought I’d make this week’s Theme Thursday nice and bright with a whole collection of Orangey niceness in the hope that you’ll forgive me for missing out last week.

Brought to you from Zibbet.com – a global marketplace, connecting buyers and sellers of Handmade Goods, Fine Art, Vintage Items and Crafting Supplies.

Seaside Splendour

May 6th, 2010

Oh I do love to be beside the seaside! But I am biased as I live right on the coast – on a cliff to be precise, so I’ve got quite a lovely view and also the opportunity to walk on the beach everyday with the dog. I’ve been collecting beach findings for a long time and as you probably know have started my own collection of jewellery made from sea glass that is sourced from the beaches in Fife where I live. This week I’ve been working in my studio on some sea glass pieces, so I thought I’d have a seaside theme!

Ruby Ruby Ruby

April 29th, 2010

I love the song ‘Ruby Ruby Ruby’ by the Kaiser Chiefs and having just listened to it I thought I’d have RED as this week’s theme. There aren’t a lot of red items in my wardrobe, but I’m beginning to introduce more colour in the the things I wear now and red is definitely creeping in. It’s a lovely warm colour that’s also bold and bright and the items I’ve selected to showcase this week are all fabulously red!

Pretty In Pink

April 15th, 2010

Who doesn’t like the colour pink? Did you know that in Western culture, the practice of assigning pink to an individual gender began in the 1920s. From then until the 1940s, pink was considered appropriate for boys, while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color, or related to the Virgin Mary. Since the 1940s, the societal norm was inverted; pink became considered appropriate for girls and blue appropriate for boys, a practice that has continued into the 21st century.
