Buy Handmade!

I’m always keen to promote handmade crafts and gifts and personally would much prefer to make someone a gift or buy them something hand crafted than buy something mass produced. When you buy handmade you know that the maker has taken the time to make each piece unique, individual in it’s own way and certainly not something you would find in highstreet shops.

How Green in Your Business?

I was recently asked this question by the guys at Makers Online with regards to how I package my goods as well as how I present them. Meet the Maker – That’s me!

Just a quick little post to let you know that I got interviewed for the ‘Meet the Maker’ slot on the Makers-Online blog recently and it got posted on the site this week. Fabricated

I came across this set of artists videos via a link on the Makers-Online blog. It’s amazing to watch an artist create and here you get to watch 6 artists make some of their work. The films are speeded up and it’s great to see the pieces take shape so quickly – it almost makes the processes look effortless, when in fact they’re not. Watch the videos below and be inspired.

Close but no cigar…

I recently entered the photography competition on the Makers-Online website. The best product photo competition was set up to accompany their feature on taking product photos, and closed on 26th March 2010. I got an email from Luke on Thursday to say that there were 136 entries in total and I was one of the 27 to be shortlisted – how exciting!

Bringing together a small set of talented designer-makers in the UK, Makers Online is an online boutique selling a wide range of beautifully hand crafted products. Specialising mostly in unique contemporary jewellery, with a wide range of bracelets, brooches, earrings and necklaces, Makers Online also stock Home Accessories, Handbags and Greetings Cards.
