It’s Grim Up North…
These lovely little brass arrows are stamped with the phrase ‘It’s grim up north’ with a star at the end. The phrase is taken from a single released in the 90s by The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (The JAMs). Its lyrics list towns and cities in the North of England, set to a pounding industrial techno beat. I’m originally from Leeds and it’s a term I heard and used often in my youth.
Each arrow is individually stamped and handcut from recycled brass industry offcuts and finished off with two sturdy brass pins and rubber pin backs. Given a brushed finish, each pin is totally unique.
The sheet is thick and weighty and the brass pins measure approximately 5.5cm long by 1.3cm high.
I make these pins in batches and hold a few finished pieces in stock, but as they are very popular, they sell out quickly. If listed as out of stock, rest assured I’ll be making another batch very soon.
