PRE-ORDER PENDANT
This thimble is up for pre-order. If you’d like it transformed into a beautiful and unique Jellyfish Pendant, add it to your basket and I’ll get that sorted for you!
Everyone loves to be unique in their own little way. Why not express your uniqueness through the jewellery you wear? Each one of my Jellyfish Pendants is totally unique and handcrafted from a small sterling silver thimble. Each of these thimbles will have it’s own individual history and story to tell. What garments have been sewn whilst they’ve protected fingers and thumbs. Did they once belong to a tailor making bespoke suits on Saville Row or did they sit on the finger of a granny hand embroidering a christening gown for a new grandchild? We will never know, but its lovely to think of the many paths each thimble has travelled to eventually make it to my studio and be transformed into a beautiful piece of jewellery you can wear.
Where will this this thimble travel to next…around your neck I hope…Let me take this humble thimble and transform it from something quite utilitarian into a thing of beauty.
The Provenance of my materials
This particular sterling silver thimble dates back to 1902, the year in which is was assayed in Birmingham by a silversmith trading as William James Holmes.
Combined with EcoSilver wire and repurposed broken sterling silver chains, a simple thimble takes on a completely new form as a Jellyfish Pendant. The pendant hangs from a long 76cm chain which means it hangs quite low – perfect for this type of neck piece.
Made from recycled materials:
– British antique sterling silver
– 100% recycled EcoSilver
– Salvaged sterling silver chains
The first two photographs show the exact thimble that will be transformed into your Jellyfish Pendant. The other images are examples of previous pendants. I’ve also included a few photos of the making process.
If you’d like to find out more about the making of these pendants you can read about process in my journal posts here and here which document the first batch I made.
