All the pieces in the LTD collection are made from antique sterling silver teaspoons.
Each piece is unique – one of a kind – once sold, it’s gone.
I bought these antique teaspoons a few years ago and started making a set of matching pieces of jewellery from them, but I never finished the project. Lockdown has been the perfect time to get them finished at long last. The set consists of a pendant, a pair of studs, a pair of drop earrings and this wrap spoon ring.
The spoons date back to 1907 and 1938 and came in a set of 5. I’ve never seen the design on sale again anywhere, so it’s incredibly unlikely that I’ll ever make a spoon ring like this again.
At the end of each spoon stem is a birds nest containing 3 little chicks being fed by a parent bird. The nest is surrounded by ivy and this ivy also features on the spoon stems. I cut off the birds nest design from the stems to make the pendant and earrings in this. This wrap ring is made from the rest of one of the spoons. The spoon bowl was flattened and the stem curved around this to form the ring. Three ivy leaves finish of the ring nicely.
The silver has been oxidised and polished back to reveal the beautiful design.
The other pieces in the set are featured below.
