All the pieces in the LTD collection are made from antique sterling silver teaspoons.
Each piece is unique – one of a kind – once sold, it’s gone.
I’ve wanted to make a love heart pendant like this for a long time. This style of spoon always makes me think of hearts. I had three spoons in this simple sleek design dating back to London 1911. They were made by the silversmiths Charlie Jacques & Frederick Bartholomew. I set myself the challenge to use every piece of all three spoons and see how many pieces of jewellery I could make from them. I managed to make 15 (some are pairs of earrings)!
This pendant is made form the ends of two of the spoon stems. Cut at an angle, the raw edges were filed, smoothed and soldered together to form a heart. I then combined this with pieces of silver from my bench tray that were heading to the scrap pot. But I saved them and used them to form the hoop and bail of the final pendant. It has been polished up to a mirror finish and looks gorgeous!
The other pieces in the set are featured below.
