Behind the Scenes

I use Instagram to document my working process and my feed is full of behind the scenes photos and video of me at work at the bench. So if you like to be nosey and take a regular peek into my studio and see me at work, then Instagram is the place to be…

Here I am about to recycle these lovely antique spoon bowls into something beautiful and unique. Sometimes the silver goes through such a transformation that you wouldn't know the origin of the material used in my jewellery unless you were told.
.
.
But I'm very proud and passionate about the rare and recycled materials I use and shout from the rooftops about not depleting the world of its natural resources. Each piece of my jewellery comes with a provenance tag explaining the history of the materials I use.
.
.
I tend to avoid buying spoons with the hallmark on the bowls now, but I have a huge backlog of hallmarked bowls I need to use up.
.
.
I either melt them down or, more often, flatten them as usual and use the silver in the pieces that require a sandy texture, like my Seashore range of pendants, earrings and rings.
.
.
I love the fact that the original mark remains on the metal but gets hidden by the silver dust I fuse onto the surface. I collect dust when making my spoon rings - I don't waste anything.
