I’ve been really busy lately making new pieces for my Echoes Collection. The process has been quite easy as these ideas have been rattling around my head for several months and it’s been lovely to finally realise the designs at last.
I love stained glass windows, but something that has always cropped up in my Pinterest feed are windows made with recycled glass, mainly bottles. I’ve pinned a few images over the years, but revisited them this week after rediscovering two stained glass panels we have in our house.
I started ‘visibly mending’ my sons trousers last year and used lovely bright patches and embroidery thread making a statement with each mend, rather than try to diguise the rips or tears. He often helped me pick the fabric and was always pleased with the efforts I made.
This year has seen so much loss and I’ve recently been drawn to the work of Amy Friend and in particular her series entitled ‘Dare alla Luce’. I studied photography to degree level and my work, much like Friend’s, used the found image as a starting point.
