October is the busiest month…

Ey Up Lass - Yorkshire Phrases

What a month I’ve had – If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know all about it.

The sleepless nights… As well as the time I’ve had to take off work this month to accommodate chicken-pox…The October break… and the possibility of getting selected for Jury Service (which thankfully didn’t happen).

Around all of this I’ve been working like a mad woman trying to stay sane (and not quite managing that) to get work made and finished for three exhibitions. This has been the busiest week, which started off with a trip to Glasgow to see one of my heroes live – David Byrne and his American Utopia tour totally blew me away and got me into the zone of getting so many things ticked off my very long to-do list.

I’ve finally sent work off a huge batch of work to a Sunny Bank Mills in Leeds, and another batch to Number Four Gallery in St Abbs and also hand delivered work to our local gallery in Kinghorn this morning.

So today I officially took a day off and it’s been lovely. I’ve been up at the Loch and Ecology Centre in the glorious autumnal sunshine walking and talking with friends old and new while we let our kids run wild in the woods. Had a massive lunch at the barn then returned home for a slow cook chilli I got going this morning and made a yummy fruit crumble for pudding with lashings of custard. I then had an extremely long and relaxing bath, read a book, and I’m now settled in bed in my new pyjamas with a cup of tea planning my week ahead.

My tasks aren’t over you see… I’ve got one more batch of jewellery to finish off for The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber for my stint as Jeweller of the month in December.

I’m hoping to get that batch finished this week before I head down to Leeds on the the 1st November for the opening of the exhibition Every Picture Tells a Story on the 2nd November. Really looking forward to seeing my work on display and catching up with Emma of The Jewellery Makers and meeting the rest of her family who have kindly offered to put me up for a few days – I get a room to myself with a very comfy bed – I can’t wait to get some quality sleep!!!

Sunny Bank Mills will be showing a selection of my new Copper Type and brass pins.

Number Four Gallery have received a selection of pieces from my Echoes Collection.

Kinghorn Station Studio and Gallery with have in display my Little Stories, Copper Type and a selection of jewellery from my Echoes Collection.
