Plastic Fantastic

Not sure how exactly I got to this weekend’s web watch, but I’ve ended up here at plastic fantastic central and loving it.

Liana Kabel

I’ll start with the most amazing creations by Liana Kabel who makes fantastic looking jewellery from tupperware and other plastics like vintage knitting needles and candle holders! Apparently her mother sold tupperware for around 20 years and her father was a jeweller – so there’s no suprise that she now makes jewellery from tupperware. Here are a few of her creations – definitely recycling at it’s best…

Anyway after all that I went on a bit of a plastic tangent and found work by other creative folk who also used plastic – check this great stuff out…

Mark Vaarwerk

Mark Vaarwerk takes plastic shopping bags, plastic milk bottles, anything plastic in fact and fuses/combines them with precious metals to make stunning jewellery – I’d love to know how he makes the rings [using only plastic bags and silver – amazing!]

Margaux Lange

Now this woman has an obsession with Barbie – her jewellery is bizarre, but I love it for it’s weirdness.
