Jurianne Matter

I’ve just been sent a link to this lovely website by Teresa at Mimi Pearl – Have you heard of Jurianne Matter? If not, I insist that you go and check out here lovely work! She makes the loveliest things out of paper and I did actually notice her work on the Upon a Fold website a while back and added her to my list of favourites. I now want to share here creations with you.

I fell in love with these paper boats which she calls ‘Wish Boats’.

The little boats sail out to celebrate weddings, new babies, new jobs, birthdays, anniversaries or sometimes even as treasure ships (with money or candies). Before you start folding, give your little boat its own name and write a personal wish or message along the railing.

I also love these paper flowers called ‘Blom’

Summer or winter, Blom is always in bloom! The beauty of Blom is everlasting, in a vase or dropping through the letterbox to greet or congratulate. Thread Blom flowers on a string to create instant floral bunting or attach to a cocktail stick to turn fairy cakes into trendy cottage garden treats! Make your own Blom bouquet by pressing the flowers out of the A5 card and threading them onto traditional florist wire. The cards are available in various colour combinations and each card contains 5 different flowers.

I also love her eco credentials:

For me, a product is only beautiful if both nature and man have been considered in its development. All my products are made in Holland and are completely eco-friendly. The paper carries the FSC-logo, and is acid and chlorine-free. The Vega-Fast ink is a Dutch developed printing ink based on vegetable oils. The plastic-looking bags are actually made from cornflour and are bio-degradable.

That just makes her products even more irresistible! It’s nice to find other designers who go that little bit further to be eco-friendly. I spent ages sourcing the right bio degradable bags and packaging for my products and it’s nice to see that other creative folk not only think about their packaging, but the paper and inks they use too. It makes me feel less alone on my quest to be eco friendly. Jurianne’s work is beautiful and I hope you go and check out her website and blog to find out more.
