We moved to Kinghorn recently and the view I get out the window at the back of the house is stunning. We live on a cliff and so it’s a sea view. The light changes all the time. The clouds are amazing, the rainbows so bright and the north sea haar is very mysterious. Here it is beginning to roll in from the horizon…

Within a few hours there was no view…just mist – love it! On a brighter note, here’s a beautiful rainbow we got the other day…

Haven’t got a rowing boat so can’t sail out to find the pot of gold!

I don’t know why it has taken us so long to find your blog but I stumpled across you page when I was searching for local craft associations in fife!
My husband & I moved to Kinghorn, pettycur bay 6 months ago and can see what you’re seeing from our back garden too – it’s like a little known secret!
Love the work you do! It’s very inspirational to find like-minded artists living here locally. We’ve just started out our very own craft business so if you ever need any resources or can share any tips feel free to drop us a line.
All the best!
Rose & Andrew

Thanks for getting in touch – nice to know that more creatives have moved to Kinghorn – we’ve been here about 3.5 years now and love it. We’re renovating our house at the moment [a long and arduous task with a zero budget] so I’ve been without my studio/office for a year or so, but hope to be back in there soon and will be doing and Open Studio weekend and hope to get other artists and crafty folk with studio’s to do the same – interested? What’s your craft business?
Ah the renovations we know the feeling! We spent two months gutting our house when we first moved here, (it was a real grannie house!) but now having to put things on hold until we get a little more money saved up. Thankfully we have a garage but it’s starting to get a bit chilly to work in there now.
Our business is primarily greeting cards, prints, journals and other other small forms of paper art. Andrew has now uncovered his passion for wood carving, so it’s starting to feel like a mish mash of everything – we’re constantly making things and learning new skills! Our website is still in progress, needs a bit of tinkering, and probably have much to learn from you in terms of how to make our business grow.
Let’s hope you get your studio back soon! Open studio weekend sounds great, have you got a date in mind? Would love to pop by and introduce ourselves. Since we don’t really know anyone other than our neighbours, we were just having this discussion and wondering how many artists and crafters are in Kinghorn, as wouldn’t it be brilliant to get everyone together and start our very own christmas craft fair, so finding your blog couldn’t have happened at a better time!
I’m hoping the Open Studio thing will happen in late October / November time as I should be back up and running by then and that’s a good time for Christmas orders and sales. I’ll keep you posted. I’m also hoping that in the future I can do regular open studios events and invite other artists/makers to sell alongside me using my studio and our living room.
Feel free to pop by anytime – I work from home so I’m in most of the time. We’re at number 45 P.Road
Sorry just to say we haven’t forgotten about you. We’ve been busy cracking on, makings lots of goodies for the next xmas craft fair coming up so not been out as much as we’d hoped. Having said that if you see a 6ft 3″ man frequently walking up p. road with a big log on his shoulder that’ll be hubby gathering his raw materials to work on!
How’s the studio coming along? Ours is a bombsite! If I see you out and about the house we will knock on your door, or we might just pop round and bring some samples along to show you what we’re currently making.
Hope all is well.
Studio progress has been none existent as Colin has been really busy with his work for the Cupar Arts Festival and I’ve not been very well. Hopefully will get back on track at the weekend. I’ve also been busy with getting ready for craft fairs as I’ve got my first in Edinburgh on the 12th November and hopefully another one in Aberdour on the 3rd December, but I’ve not heard back about that one so not sure if I’ve got a stall or not.
Have read a few of your blogs now and beginning to understand how tough things have been for you lately – just remind yourself now & again to take a step back and admire that wonderful view from the window!
We’re busy in the run up to our Christmas craft stall at the Queensferry hotel at North Queensferry on the 6th Nov, and if you happen to be free please do pop by. Afterwards we’ll be able to relax a little and can come and help get your studio ready. Please don’t be afraid to ask – happy to help whever we can!
