This is a back-dated post as I’ve been so busy with work of late that I’ve not really had time to post anything on my blog. But here I am on a Friday evening, watching the TV and utilising a WordPress app on my iPad to see if it’s possible to do a bit of blogging in the evenings without being at my desk.
I’m not overly impressed with the app as its a very simplified interface, but it’s great to be able to quickly write up a few drafts that I can then add images to once I’m back at my PC. So maybe it will enable me to blog more often as there’s been a bit of a drought lately and I do apologise.
My excuses are….
– I’m pregnant and totally knackered most of the time
– I’ve got a huge project to complete for work before the baby arrives
– Got tons of DIY to do as well
So my days are full of work and my evenings are full of painting rooms and other DIY stuff and getting ready for baby.
But anyway. This year I had a lovely birthday – last years birthday was such a non-event and I didn’t want that to happen again this year. I had flu, an injured arm, I couldn’t work, the house was a building site full of cowboy builders, everything was a mess, Colin was at work so I spent the day alone and to top it all I turned 40 and nobody noticed – I was so depressed at the time, that I didn’t really care. But it did bother me that it was such a no-event after a while. It would’ve been great to have a huge party and celebrate being 40 but it was just not to be.
This year, Colin wasn’t working on the day so I wasn’t on my own and I had a really lovely day. He got me some really fantastic retro pressies too. One was this amazing wall calendar for my studio – it’s the type where you have to manually change the date each day and I love it and can’t wait to decided where to hang it.
My main pressie though was a fantastic old record player – he’d ordered it online and it didn’t arrive on the day unfortunately but a few days later. I don’t have much of my vinyl collection left as most of it got left behind when I moved up to Scotland years ago, but we found a classic 45 by Ultravox and put that on to test it out – it brought a tear to my eye.

It was so wonderful and took me back to my college days. I can’t wait to get it set up properly in the front room and start collecting vinyl again!
At the weekend we met up with friends at the Spoon cafe in Edinburgh for a meal and some drinks and it was a really lovely evening – thanks for making it a fab night everyone!
