A blast from the past

Spent the evening looking for accommodation in and around Harrogate for my visit to the BCTF in April. Not much available for 2 adults, a child and a dog at reasonable prices, so opted to book into The White Horse in Ripon which is a bit of a blast from the past.

I first went to college in Ripon when I left home at the age of 19 and lived, studied and worked there for a little over 4 years. It’s a really lovely place and I’ve not been back since I graduated.

It’s going to be amazing to go back for a visit and show Colin and Milo all my old haunts, including Ripon Cathedral where I did give bell ringing a go once – I wasn’t very good at it, but stuck at it for quite a while.

There’s a lovely little park, victorian swimming baths, a few lovely river walks, Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks close by – so we’re going to have a full schedule I think – better not forget to go to the BCTF!
