This morning, in between my day job jobs, I’ve been working on a little autumnal leaf pendant. I’ve been ignoring the spoon heads that were discarded when making my spoon rings for far too long and decided to have a think of what to do with them the other day. I knew I wanted to cut something out of them, whether this was a letter initial, or intricate pattern os something simple, but nothing really stuck in my mind too long.
Then someone in my class suggested making a leaf and that idea won as the spoon shape lends to the natural shape of a leaf and so I set to it.
Here is what I’ve managed to achieve this morning. I started off with just the central line and then cut out the other lines coming off from the centre. It’s really fiddly filing/sanding these areas and think I need to invest in some really slim needle files as the ones I have are just too fat. So I use a combination of files and sandpaper. I then started adding the definition on one side. This will be done on the other side too. It took me ages to decide to do this as without the indents it looks so simple and pure, but then I decided that it still looked too spoon like and started filing down these areas and now I’m so glad I did.

Thank you. You have helped me decide to use the spoons I picked up in the antique store outside the kitchen. These are inspiring
Simply beautiful!
Are these made from sterling?
Thanks 🙂
Yes – they’re made from British hallmarked antique silver spoons – all sterling silver. They’re currently in my Spring Sale reduced from £120 to £50. I only have 5 left – http://www.milomade.co.uk/shop-milomade-sale.php#!/Autumn-Leaf-Pendant/p/65236158/category=14972178
