The Next Featured Sellers on Folksy are…

My name was pulled out of the hat at Folksy HQ over the weekend and it’s now my duty to choose the four featured sellers for March. Very exciting and daunting task – I instantly put up a twitter announcement to tell people to have more than 5 items in their shop in order to be up for a chance of getting chosen.

I spent most of Sunday morning looking through my favourite shops and was disappointed that a few of my favourite sellers had less than five items in their shops and so I couldn’t choose them. It was so difficult to get the list down to 10 and then go through that and reduce it to 4. But I’ve made my selection now and after sleeping on it, I’ve decided that these are the 4 sellers I have chosen…

1. Easily Suede

First up is Easily Suede. I love the name of this shop – it’s a genius play on words. If you like leather then you will love the stuff in the Easily Suede shop. Lots of different finishes, textures and colours – bags, satchels, iPhone cases and manscripts covers – all lovingly hand stitched and beautifully finished.

2. Lucy Player

Next up is a graphic designer [still a student] with tons of talent who gets excited by pens and paper, has a liking for printmaking and line drawings, thinks about food way too much and is partial to a good cup of tea (strong, half a sugar). I first saw her work on Folksy a while back when she added a set of greetings card with illustrations of cassettes on them. I’m a sucker for old technologies as I’m a bit of an oldie myself and remember the pre-digital age of mix-tapes, but I also love line drawings and these are so beauitfully illustrated, I’d like them as a poster:

3. Vintage Town

Next up is the seller Vintage Town, who makes an eclectic range of handmade fabric items including tea cosies and bags. All her items are hand crafted from upcycled/vintage fabrics and I think she has an eye for detail as the way she puts the fabrics together is great. I love the patterns, words and images she creates. I wish she would make some oven gloves as I need a new pair!

4. Saffron Barr

And finally we have Saffron Barr. This shop is filled to the brim of yummy natural skin products that looks tasty enough to eat and I bet they smell devine! They produce luxury bar soaps, liquid soaps, natural creams & lotions, lip balms and solid lotion bars. Everything is handmade from carefully selected ingredients using no chemical additives – great for the skin and great for the senses. I’m going to be ordering some soon…

Well it gave me a boost becoming a featured seller and made me add more stuff to my shop and blog a little more – it helped me a lot. So I hope it does the same for these folk too.

It brought me a few…but it’s gone a bit quiet now. Hopefully things will pick up soon as I’m doing a three day craft fair in Edinburgh in a fortnight and hoping that will get me some business.

I’m not sure when Folksy is going to get round to changing the featured sellers over…hope they get round to it sometime soon.

    Hello milomade
Thank you so much for choosing me! I’m really chuffed as I’ve only just started making stuff again after time out to have my daughter/write books etc, and I’m so old school I’ve only just got a blog! Love your blog, btw, will follow and put a link to it when I’ve worked out how…thanks again, Marionxx
