Bye Bye Camera

Today I said goodbye to my camera – I had to pack it up and send it off for repair – something I should have done months ago, but something I’ve been delaying for as long as possible as I hate to be without it. There is dust on the sensor and there is no way for me to clean the sensor myself and so I’ve had to send it back to Camerabox.

Book Hoo – not sure when I’ll get it back!

Having looked back through my images it looks like the dust has always been there ever since I bought the camera, it’s just not something I’ve noticed as most of my photography is done in Macro mode with a short depth of field and so it just hasn’t appeared on many of my photographs. Recently though I’ve noticed a black spot on the LCD screen and this made me examine my images in more detail and on most of the non macro images it’s there – always in the same spot, it never moves.

So I looked at all the photographs I’ve taken this year ever since I got the camera and it’s there on my very first images. If you have a look at the following 6 images you’ll notice a blurry dark spot to the top left of the frame about two thirds along from the left and third down from the top…

So hopefully they can fix it as then I’ll get my camera back quickly – if they can’t it’ll probably have to go back to Canon and who knows how long it will take to get it back.

I’m off to wipe the dust off my old Canon Ixus and see if I can get that to work in the meantime – it was on it’s last legs and that’s why it was replaced, but it might have a little more life in it yet. Here’s hoping…
